Thank you for visiting our family furniture business! Our story began in the aftermath of the 2008 U.S. Housing Crisis. During those tough recession years, the Peruvian restaurant we had left our home country of Peru to open was on the brink of closing, and our family faced the possibility of having to return. In the middle of this uncertainty, I found comfort in my lifelong passion for woodworking — a craft passed down from my Chinese grandfather, himself an immigrant in Peru. What started as a way to cope during difficult times quickly became more than just making rustic pieces — it became a lifeline.

The turning point came when my wife challenged me to recreate a round dining table she had seen at a big-box furniture store. That moment sparked a new chapter. In 2016, with the restaurant behind us, our family took a leap of faith and opened Studio Geppetto Design in the sunny San Francisco Bay Area. What once felt like an ending turned into a new beginning. With the help of my wife, our kids, and a set of chisels, we poured our hearts into building not just furniture, but a family business filled with memories.

Today, with our philosophy of “put family in customer service,” we’ve been fortunate to ship our handcrafted furniture to homes and restaurants in 45 states and counting. From our family to yours — thank you for supporting small business!

Passion & Craftsmanship, Always

This journey began with a simple challenge and rekindled passion. When Jorge's wife dared him to recreate a round dining table she saw in a big-box furniture retailer, little did they know it would be the catalyst for a new chapter in their lives. With their Peruvian restaurant recently closed due to the 2008 U.S. recession, Jorge found himself with the opportunity to revisit his teenage fascination with woodworking, passed down by his Chinese grandfather in Peru. Days after the challenge, the round table stood in their dining table and the astonished reaction from his wife was all the validation they needed to post it on Craigslist where it was sold the next day, lighting the bulb for the idea for Studio Geppetto Design.
